Market plans for the rest of 2016

The Best of Faversham market has proved very successful and I have booked the following dates for the rest of the year.
2nd July
20th August
17th September
15th October
3rd December
The market has developed from a very good local food market and there is a variety of really nice food, beer, plant and ‘craft’ stalls. It’s also very close to the excellent general market which is not full of ‘market’ tat!
If you are going out of your way to come to the market it may be worth checking with me beforehand… who knows what the future holds but I’ll definitely be there this Saturday. Hope to see you soon.

Best of Faversham

I am digging out the boxes of pots for the first time this year and going to the Best of Faversham market this Saturday 16th April. It’s a nice market, similar to the old Artisan in Canterbury but set in the gentler but interesting market town of Faversham. The market is in Preston Street which is in the heart of the town. There’s more information and a good map on the link below.

At the same time there’s an interesting event at the Alexander Centre which is also in Preston Street.

At the moment my plans for this year are to do the market in Faversham each month and the Wealden Times Midwinter event 17/18/19th November… The Faversham dates are very variable at the moment so do get in touch to check with me if your planning to come and see me there.
Hope to see you soon.

Artist Open House and KPA show at the Beaney….

October is going to be busy….

Kent Potters Association have organised a show in The Front Room at The Beaney in Canterbury 10th October – 25th October.

A wide variety of work from over 30 potters from across Kent has been selected and this should be a very interesting event for anyone with any sort of interest in ceramics and pottery…. and some of my work will be there too.

There’s a ‘Meet the Potters’ event on Saturday 10th October 12-2pm it would be great to see some familiar faces if you’re able to get there.

My friend, artist and neighbour Sofiah Garrard has invited me to participate with her in the Canterbury Festival Artist’s Open Houses, 17th & 18th October, 24th & 25th October and 31st Oct. & 1st November 11am – 5pm.
Her address is 18 St Augustines Road Canterbury CT1 1XR.

We are having an ‘Open House Warming’ 7-9pm on Friday 16th October do please come if you can, it would be lovely to kick start it with a glass of wine with friends and customers. will give you the details of all the Open Houses in Canterbury, Faversham, Herne Bay, Thanet and Whitstable.

I am back at Show Off, Harbour Street Whitstable again 18th – 25th November. Wednesday 18th 1pm – 5pm, Thursday – Monday 10-5pm and closing about 1pm on Tuesday 25th.

Hope to see you somewhere soon….

At last, some pots to sell!

After a tricky unproductive winter both kilns have been going flat out and I have some finished work… hooray!

So, I will be at the pop-up shop  in Whitstable…
Show Off, Harbour Street, Whitstable CT5 1AQ Wednesday 19th August to Tuesday 25th August 10am-6pm
I set up on Wednesday 19th and  hope to be open by midday and then we’ll be open every day 10am-6pm.
Closing at 2pm Tuesday 25th.

Jenni Rogers is bringing her beautiful jewellery and Sofiah Garrard will have some of her wonderful work on the walls.

With the disappointing loss of the monthly market in Canterbury, this will be my first selling event this year…. it would be really good to see some familiar faces so please do pop in if you are in the area, as ever absolutely no obligation to buy anything.

Autumn 2014 plans

It’s been a busy late summer/autumn, I’ve been busy making pots and helping the dog recover from his hip replacement. He is doing really well but his bucket makes my shed feel considerably smaller! I’ve just started glazing and firing so it’s an exciting time. I’ve put some photos on http://www.Facebook/louisehummerstonepottery

My plans for the autumn are…

The Wealden Times Midwinter Fair at Bedgebury Pinetum Nr Goudhurst Kent

Thursday, Friday and Saturday 20th, 21st and 22nd November

This is usually a great shopping event with lots of interesting stands, the kind of things you don’t find in shops very easily and there is usually good food available. I will have a few free tickets, do let me know if you would like one.

A few days after the Wealden Times show I go to the pop up shop in Whitstable…..

‘Show off’, 13 Harbour Street, Whitstable CT5 1AQ

Wednesday 26th November 1 – 5.30pm
Thurs 27th – Tues 1st Dec 10 -5.30
Tuesday 2nd December 10 – 1pm

I am sharing the shop with Jenni Rogers, Jenni makes beautiful and affordable jewellery and the wonderful artist Sofiah Garrard.

Do come and say hello in the shop if you are in the area, it’s always nice to see a familiar face but as ever there is no obligation to buy.

Hope to see you soon.

I am slowly being dragged into the 21st Century and attempting to get on Facebook… it might work!…

Artisan Market, Canterbury this Saturday

I’ll be at the Artisan Market in the Whitefriars Square, Canterbury this Saturday. Do come and say hello if you’re in town, it’s always nice to see a friendly face. Sales at the new market venue have been disappointing and I am going to see how this month’s market goes before deciding whether or nor to do it in the future. I still have work in the lovely shop in the Marlowe Arcade.

I am busy making pots to rebuild by stock and my plan for the autumn is to do the Wealden Times Midwinter show at Bedgebury Pinetum near Goudhurst, 20/21/22nd November for which I will have free tickets to give away and I have booked a ‘pop up’ shop in Harbour Street, Whitstable 26th November-2nd December, I hope you’ll put put the dates on your calendar if those events appeal to you.

It’s great weather for making pots, I hope you are able to enjoy it as well.

First firing this year…

Babies safely arrived, pots made and glazed… Great to get the kiln going.
